Registration is now open for the American Chestnut Restoration, Inc.’s 36th annual meeting.
The meeting will take place at SUNY ESF in Syracuse, NY.
Registration is open until Friday, September 11.
The cost is $55 and includes a light breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
The USDA accepted public comments through July 29, 2025, on a proposal to deregulate Darling 54, a blight-tolerant American chestnut tree developed by SUNY ESF. This is a critical step toward restoring this iconic species to its native range.

Who We Are
American Chestnut Restoration is a dedicated group of scientists, conservationists, foresters, and volunteers focused on reintroducing the American chestnut to eastern U.S. forests. Originating from the New York Chapter of The American Chestnut Foundation, we are committed to revitalizing this essential tree species nearly wiped out by chestnut blight in the early 1900s. Using innovative biotechnology, including the oxalate oxidase (OxO) gene, we promote disease tolerance in the Darling line of trees, ensuring their survival.
